Our Principles

At Fakenews Ghana, we are guided by values that reflect our mission to fight misinformation, promote media literacy, and defend the public’s right to factual information. These principles serve as the foundation for our editorial decisions, partnerships, and accountability to the public.

Accuracy

We are committed to publishing facts, not opinions. Every statement we check is rigorously verified using credible sources, data, and evidence. We strive for precision in every report and seek expert insights when necessary.

Fairness and Nonpartisanship

We do not support or oppose any political party, public official, or ideological group. Our work is driven by evidence—not agendas. We fact-check statements from all sides equally and without bias.

Transparency of Sources

We provide clear citations and links to all sources used in our verification process so readers can independently assess the credibility of the evidence presented.

Transparency of Methodology

We explain how we select, research, and rate claims. Our ratings are consistent, publicly defined, and subject to review. Anyone should be able to understand how we arrived at a conclusion.

Openness to Corrections

We acknowledge that errors can happen. When they do, we correct them clearly, promptly, and visibly—without obscuring the original content. See our Corrections Policy for more.

Respect for Public Dialogue

We engage constructively with the public and welcome criticism. Our aim is not only to correct falsehoods but to help build a culture of verification and civic responsibility in Ghana and beyond.

Independence

Fakenews Ghana is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization. Our funding sources do not influence our editorial decisions. We disclose major funders and maintain full editorial independence.
